The Roma Street Parklands played a significant and positive role in Brisbane by reconnecting and integrating the site into the existing city network. The plan became a celebration and reflection of the ecology, culture, and heritage of local and regional context through the:

• Reclamation and linking of a brownfield railway site with
existing park space so that it would become a prominent
gathering place and catalyst for development;
• Provision of a framework for new mixed-use development
centered around park and open space; and,
• Inclusion of hotels, offices, retail and market, residential, and
an inter-city railway station.
